History

Weckenmann Anlagentechnik GmbH & Co. KG from Dormettingen cooperated with LandTechnik AG from Schönebeck at the beginning of the 1990s.

The tool making division at Landtechnik AG handled the contract manufacturing (or so-called “Lohnkooperation” in the former East Germany) for a wide range of industries.

The privatisation of LandTechnik AG and the resulting shedding of jobs prompted the dissolution of the tool making division. The idea was born to convert essential sections of the tool making division of LandTechnik AG to an autonomous company and transfer the equipment and machinery to the new Company.

This led to the founding of the company Weckenmann GmbH & Co. KG in 1993 by the two brothers Wolfgang and Hermann Weckenmann. After the first plans to settle on the company premises of LandTechnik AG in Schönebeck were unsuccessful, a production and administration building was rented in Calbe. Investing in its own production building was not considered for the time being. The first 6 years experienced production in difficult spatial conditions.

Then in 2000, the originally planned production site was acquired on the premises of the former LandTechnik Schönebeck. The company now had a production area of 1,700 square metres at its disposal.

A general production company involved in the design and development of machine and plant components was set up from the very beginning. In addition to contract manufacturing for the sister company in Dormettingen, several construction projects as well as contract manufacturing for various industries were also carried out. Over the years, the company has moved to specialising in the single-piece machining of large welded parts and medium-sized machined parts. The company also designed and developed its own products and system solutions in the field of industrial conveyor technology and automation technology. Increasing work piece sizes required the company to expand further.

In 2016, for example, a considerably enlarged production and administration building was built on the Staßfurt site. Only a few hundred metres away from the A14 motorway, the site now has 4,200 square metres of state-of-the-art production space.
